Project Case Studies
As part of Neighbourhoods Green, eight projects have been put forward as case studies to illustrate some of the innovative approaches to green space management, design and use that are currently being developed and implemented across London and the UK. - Clapton Park - Green Space Maintenance: Innovative approaches to management and maintenance of green spaces whilst reducing the use of herbicides and increasing biodiversity.
- Housing Estates Improvement Programme: Grant scheme set up in partnership with Groundwork and Hammersmith and Fulham's Housing Management Services, which supports resident-led improvement projects.
- High Path Estate Community Garden: A series of initiatives including crime-reduction techniques leading to physical improvements and increased resident involvement around a densely populated high-rise estate in South-West London.
- Hounslow Estates Development: Programme aimed at holistic neighbourhood regeneration, to improve open spaces and community cohesion
- Furniture on the Street: Housing Association led social enterprise creating street furniture from reclaimed timber for use around public spaces
- BTCV Green Gym, North Bexley: BTCV and Orbit Bexley have been working together to engage residents and other volunteers in conservation volunteering around housing estate land
- Productive Landscapes in Preston: The Wildlife Trusts and Places for People are working on a joint initiative to create productive landscapes which will connect local people with their local environments to turn derelict, neglected and underused spaces into usable attractive spaces which encourage wildlife and biodiversity.
- Tree Strategy: Peabody Trust have developed a tree strategy to take a more strategic approach to the management of the Trust's tree stock, including a comprehensive audit, analysis, pro-active management programme, clarification of policy and practice, development of staff skills, and awareness-raising to residents.
